The products are broadly classified hereunder:
1. BIO-FERTILIZERS (including bio-control agents)
Specific Micro organisms ( bacteria, algae, fungi and bacilli ) that are capable of
- Fixing nitrogen from air and depositing it in plant nodules for consumption by the plant.
- Solubilising phosphorous that is already available in the soil.
- Mobilizing potassium that is in immobilized form in the soil
- Decomposing organic matter and releasing plant nutrients from it.
The product Bio-Fertilizer comprises of the specified
microorganism(s) blended in carrier material like charcoal / coir Sri Sai Bio Agrilabs promotes organic farmingand agriculture using a holistic approach. It not only provides a very exhaustive range of products but also significant support services that are necessary for sustainable agriculture as an integrated and holistic solution to meet farmers’ manifold requirements.
a. Bio-fertilizers for fixing Nitrogen
Azospirullum - for Paddy, Sugarcane, Millets, fodder & Plantation crops
Azotobacter - N fixer, Growth Promoter, Anti-biotic & Mineralizer
Acetobacter - Specific for Sugarcane
Rhyzobium - for pulses & other legumes
Blue Green Algae & Azolla - for wet land paddy
b. Bio-fertilizers for solubilizing Phosphorous
Phosphorous Solubilising bacteria
- Pseudomonas striata
- Bacillius Polymyxa
Phosphorous Solubilising fungi
- Aspergillus awamori
- Pencillium digitatium
- VAM fungi (Vesicular Arbusscular)Mycorrhizer
c. Bio-fertilizer for mobilizing Potassium
Frateuria aurantia
d. Bio-fertilizer for decomposing organic matter
11 strains of Bacteria & Fungus Reduces period of decomposition from 90 days to one month.
2. MICRO NUTRIENTS
Out of the minimum sixteen elements that are essential for the growth and reproduction of plants, 13 elements are taken from soil, i.e major nutrients (6) : Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sulphur, Calcium and Magnesium; and micro nutrients (7) : Boron , Copper , Iron , Manganese , Molybdenum , Zinc and Cholrine. Three (3) Elements are taken from water & air, i.e. Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen.
Heavy doses of only N, P , K applied to soil continuously for years drain out all the available micro nutrients from the soil. Thus, external supply of micro nutrients to the soil replenishes the loss, and improves
its quality.
3. BIO-PESTICIDES (neem based)
Twelve bio-pesticides are already registered under Insecticides Act 1968.
a.) Sub species of Bacillus thuringiensis - Group of Bacteria. Act on larva of Cotton boll worm,
mosquito and black fly.
b.) Beauveria bassiana, Pathogen - Acts against borers, white fly,
thrips, aphids and mealy bugs on
Cotton & Sugarcane.
c.) Trichoderma harzianum Fungus - Acts on soil born diseases of wide ranging crops.
d.) Trichoderma viride Broad spectrum usage
e.) Pseudomonas fluoresens Bacterium - Acts against soil-borne diseases of cotton and vegetables. In
wide use now.
f.) Bacillus sphaericus Bacterium - Acts on larva of mosquito particularly against Culex sp.
g.) NPV of Helicoverpa armigera Nuclear Poly hedrosis, Virus - Acts against cotton boll worm, pod borers of pigeon pea and chick pea, borers of tomato & bud worm of tobacco.
h.) NPV of Spodoptera litura Nuclear Poly hedrosis, Virus - Acts against beet army worm on
cotton, vegetables, grapes and ornamentals.
i.) NEEM BASED BIO PESTICIDES - Azadirachtin, Safflower, Okra, Cauliflower, Cabbage and Tomato.
The bio insecticide, is derived from seed kernel of
neem. It acts against Bollworms, Aphids, Jassids, Thrips, Whitefly, Leaf folder, Pod borer, Fruit borer, Leaf hopper and Diamond
backmoth. Crops covered are Cotton, Rice, Pigeonpea.
4. TISSUE CULTURE
- Each living cell of an organism, if provided with proper environment, would be capable of
independent development
- Schwann’s Cell theory (1839). This theory made it possible to produce millions and millions of
high quality tissue culture plants that are identical in all respects to the mother plant chosen for ideal traits like pest/disease resistance, high yield etc.
These tissue culture plants - each one generating from a single cell are reared first in Petri dishes and test tubes. In later stages, they are grown in Green Houses and in shaded net areas for hardening.
Some of the tissue culture plants that gained popularity are : Banana, vanilla, stevia (with sugary leaves), straw berry, sugar cane, teak, flower and ornamental plants).
5. VERMI COMPOST
Vermi compost is simply earth worms along with vermi castings that are produced by earthworms feeding on organic waste material. The castings of earthworms are extremely beneficial to soil.
Other advantages are:
- Vermi compost is enriched with plant nutrients and growth enhancing hormones, enzymes and anti
-biotics.
- Vermi compost would create optimum conditions of aeration, moisture, temperature, pH and
beneficial microbial activity in the soil.
- It would help in maximizing yield by improving the soil structure, soil fertility and productivity ; and by optimizing soil
ambience and soil health.
All the above are manufactured, distributed and marketed by Sri Sai Bio Agrilabs Pvt Ltd.
In order to convince the farmers to switch over from chemical-aided farming to organic farming Sri Sai Bio Agrilabs Pvt. Ltd., provides a number of services both formal and informal:
1.
Agri Clinics - for diagnosis, analysis, solution of any organic-farming related matters
2.
Organic farming demos - where SSBA demonstrates the benefits and simplicity of organic farming
3.
Tissue culture labs - where SSBA conducts continuous research, cultures and hardens plants for
higher yield crops
4.
Micro-irrigation systems - where SSBA designs tailor made drip irrigation systems (both sprinkler and jet), installs them and provides maintenance.
The main idea behind organic agriculture is to reach the highest product quality by conserving land, by using natural inputs and by implementing site oriented production systems.
In order to promote this trend with the farmers, SSBA conducts regular EXTENSION PROGRAMS at field level. It has established four Regional Offices, i.e. at
Vizag, Kurnool, Vijayawada and Hyderabad, and presence in 16 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The company has a large extension and marketing network with 12 distributors and more than 100 dealers across the State. Its expansion plans include five border districts in
Orissa, (Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri and Berhampur) and Ballary district in
Karnataka.
